A project of "The Ink People"
The vision is to gather one drum and dance group to represent each country, as well as each ethnic group from around the world. These drum and dance groups will join together in a world tour to each country represented, so we may show an example of world unity , harmony and peace.
Imagine actively sharing in this vision now. Yes... sharing in the vision to perform concerts at sacred sites, major cities or in the capitols within each of the represented countries. I ask you to dare to help bring this vision to reality. You can support this journey around the world to bring the rhythms and dance of all people together as one heartbeat, one dance.

The Legend of the Drum

This legend's roots come from stories told by indigenous elders of Turtle Island (North America) from the time of creation. All tribal people around the world have such creation stories. This is but one of hundreds of legends and is in no way meant to change your personal beliefs or challenge your own legends or religious beliefs. In this way we share our stories so they continue to live and inspire one another to embrace our Human Family and our origins... as being Humans who all will find tribal roots if you look back far enough into history. This legend comes from before the time of written words and has been passed down in the oral tradition.
The Legend...

The Legend...
There came a day before the creation of "Human Kind" when the Creator of all things called a council of all the ones who lived upon the lands. At this council he spoke of his intent to create a new being, the two legged, to live upon the earth amongst those at this council. The creatures agreed to be helpers as teachers for these new beings, so they may learn to live in peace, balance and harmony and take only what they need to survive.
The council meeting had taken quite some time and the sky had grown dark, yet Grandmother Moon had shown bright in her fullness to give light to the council. As the council grew near its close there came a great thunderous sound like none had ever heard before! The voice spoke three more times and it seemed to c0me from the four directions. The Creator asked the moon and stars to shine more brightly to see where such a voice came from.
The Creator then sent beings to search for the source of this voice. He sent the wolf to the north, eagle to the east, coyote to the south and bear to the west on Turtle Island. On other lands of Mother Earth he sent tiger, condor, lion, and others to search for the source of this voice.
When all these beings found the source of this voice it offered a message to be brought back to the Creator and the council. This was the message, "I am the spirit of the drum! I have a request of the Creator because I heard his decision to create the "Human Kind". I ask to be the voice that represents the heartbeat of Mother Earth and all living things walking upon her. I am asking of the Tree Beings and the Four Legged to give of themselves to create the body that will carry my voice and spirit to the Human Kind. If this is done my voice will be that which will call to the souls of Human Kind to return to their hearts and live in harmony and respect for all who walk upon the Mother Earth. I will remind them to dance in celebration of life and to live from their hearts in peace and unity".
The creatures then returned to the council and delivered this message. The Creator then asked the Trees and the Four Legged if they would give of themselves, as asked by the Spirit of the Drum. They did agree.
The Creator said "This is good! So be it!"
So it has been since the time of our creation, the drum was the first instrument created by Human Kind, through this agreement. To this day it is still used in such a way that it calls to our souls to return to rhythms of life, love, peace and harmony, for it carries the heartbeat of Mother Earth and all beings walking upon her.
